· Determining the characteristics of living organisms
II. Topics of Learning
· The meaning of Biology as science
· The characteristics of living organisms
III. Learning Methodology
· Observation-discussion
IV. Learning steps
Meeting 1 (1 session)
A. Pre-activity (5 minutes)
· The teacher asks students about things that are common they see.
· Students are asked to identify living and nonliving objects.
B. While activity (30 minutes)
· The teacher asks the reasons why certain objects are considered living organisms.
· Students identify some visible characteristics of living organisms.
· The teacher adds invisible characteristics of living organisms.
C. Post-activity (10 minutes)
· The teacher and students determine the characteristics of living organisms as objects of Biology.
V. Tool/Material/source

BIOLOGY LESSON PLAN 2
LESSON PLAN
Subjects : Biology
Grade/Semester : X (Ten)/ 1
Meeting : 2 - 3
Time Allocation : 3 sessions
Standard of Competence : 1. Understanding the essence of Biology as science
Basic Competence : 1.2 Describing biological objects and biological problems at different levels of life organization (molecule, cell, tissue, organ, individual, population, ecosystem, and biome)
Aim : Students should be able to describe objects, problems, and organization levels in studies of Biology
I. Objectives
· Drawing conclusion about the scope of Biology base on the observation result
· Drawing the structure of Biology discipline based on objects, problems, and level of life organization
· Recognizing the objects, problems, and the levels of life organization of Biology studies
· Writing papers about the structure of discipline, the development, the prospect of one of the Biology studies
II. Topics of Learning
· Three aspects of Biology discipline:
1. Objects
2. Problems
3. Organization level
· The studies of Biology can be analyzed based on ”Biology cake”
III. Learning Methodology
· Observation – discussion–assigning
IV. Learning Steps
Meeting 2 (2 sessions)
A. Pre-activity (10 minutes)
· The teacher reasks the characteristics of living organisms as objects of Biology.
· Students reidentify the characteristics of living organisms as objects of Biology.
B. While activity (70 minutes)
· The teacher and students identify various groups of living organisms.
· The teacher and students identify various levels of life organization on biology objects.
· The teacher and students identify various biological problems.
· The teacher and students draw the structure of Biology discipline based on objects, organization levels, and biological problems.
C. Post-activity (10 minutes)
· The teacher and students determine the structure of Biology discipline.
· The teacher asks the students to identify some Biology studies and their discipline structure.
Meeting 3 (1 session)
A. Pre-activity (10 minutes)
· The teacher asks several objects, organization levels, and problems of some Biology studies that students have identified.
B. While activity (25 minutes)
· The teacher discusses some Biology studies and their development and their prospect in the future.
C. Post-activity (10 minutes)
· The teacher assigns the students to gather information and make a paper about one of Biology studies, its development, and its prospect in the future.
V. Tool/Material/Source
· Biology IA workbook, Esis
· Biology 1A text-book, Esis, chapter 1
· Information about various Biology studies from various sources such as newspapers, magazines, journals, text-books, and internet.
