BIOLOGY LESSON PLAN 5
LESSON PLAN
Subject : Biology
Grade/Semester : X (Ten)/ 1
Meeting : 7 and 8
Time Allocation : 4 sessions
Standard of Competence: 2. Understanding the principles of classification of living organisms
Basic Competence : 2.3 Presenting the common characteristics of phylum of protists Kingdom and their roles in life
Aim : Students should be able to describe the characteristics of protists, the roles of protists in human life, and classify them
I. Objestives
· Decribing the characteristics of animal-like protists, plant-like protists, and fungus-like protists
· Classifying the animal-like protists, plant-like protists, and fungus-like protists
· Identifying the advantageous protists and disadvantageous protists
II. Topics of Learning
The characteristics of protists:
1. Plant-like protists
2. Animal-like protists
3. Fungus-like protists
· The roles of protists in human life:
1. Advantageous roles
2. Disadvantageous roles
III. Learning Methodology
· Discussion - Assigning - Observation
IV. Learning steps
Meeting 7 (2 sessions)
A. Pre-activity (10 minutes)
· The teacher reasks the students the characteristics of prokaryotes.
· The teacher discusses another unicell organism having different characteristics with prokaryotes.
B. While activity (70 minutes)
· The teacher asks the students to prepare tools and materials for protists observation in activity 5.1.
· The students do macroscopic protists observation and microscopic protists observation.
· The students draw the observation result.
· The students write an observation report.
C. Post-activity (10 minutes)
· The teacher and the students determine the characteristics of protists.
· The students turn in the observation report.
Meeting 8 (2 sessions)
A. Pre-activity (10 minutes)
· The teacher reasks the common characteristics of protists.
B. While activity (70 minutes)
· The teacher and the students discuss the elements of protists classification.
· The teacher and the students discuss the characteristics of the animal-like protists, plant-like protists, and fungus-like protists.
· The students describe the samples of animal-like protists, plant-like protists, and fungus-like protists.
C. Psot-activity (10 minutes)
· The teacher assigns the students to do a protists analysis in activity 5.3.
V. Tool/Material/Source
· Biology 1A workbook, Esis
